Glympse App

For this blog post I am going to review the Glympse app. This is a simple GPS app that shares your location with others in real time. The basic app is free, but there are some ads. We actually use this app at our library. We do van runs between our branch and main library. This app allows, my supervisor, and administrative staff to track my progress. With my location available they can tell at a glance if it's feasible to have me run additional errands, stop to purchase supplies, return for items that were missed in the pickup, and etc. It's also handy for when we go on trips for conferences and various training seminars. Tracking can be turned on or off, or a time limit can be used. I typically just activate it for the hours I'm working. For some of my loved ones, I leave it on constantly so they can find my location anytime.I recommend this app as a simple free way of tracking for work or personal use. Multi-User Virtual Environment

Multi-User Virtual Environment or MUVE was a description of certain video games I had never heard before. I think I used the term online open world fantasy / role playing game, or something like that. The MUVE that I have the most experience with would be Minecraft. I do have experience with other online games such as Halo, Call of Duty, and Skyrim. I don't really consider these completely MUVE. Their physical worlds, and the physics of the games are only minimally modifiable. Minecraft however is very different than the aforementioned. The environment is totally modifiable, and the game physics can be changed. Yes, you can fly if you wish. The first time I saw Minecraft, my son was playing it on his PC. I recall asking him where he found such an old game. I assumed it was an old game because the graphics looked early to mid 90's. Musings on Social Media

I have been asked to create a blog and compose a post about my social media experiences, so here goes. As a 43 y/o, social media and the internet were not available to me until I was attending university in the mid to late 90's. Even then social media was not the phenomena it is today. I first started using social media in about 2007 when I established a Myspace account. Initially I enjoyed the ability to connect with old classmates and friends, but over time I became increasingly uncomfortable. I tend to be an introvert and let few people really get to know me. The discomfort came from the amount of what I would call "overshare" I witnessed on the site. I fairly quickly backed off of being an active participant and mostly observed and responded only if I was directly addressed.
